Weekly Progress (Term 1)

This is my weekly progress

WEEK 2

• Introduction to camera angles and different camera shots in a video.

WEEK 3 MEDIA STUDIES

•  Research a couple of additional adverts for the next session.
• Complete the explanation and description for the Mini Project
• Analyze 2 more adverts completely, totalling the research adverts to 5.
• Further camera movements

WEEK 4 MEDIA STUDIES

• Introduction to the techniques and elements of mis en scene. (whatever there is on the video/media)
• Further studies about mis en scene, couple of group discussion studying the mis en scene on the movie Wall-E. And a couple of protagonistic and antagonistic backgrounds from the Harry Potter movie series.
• Published the research for the additional 2 advertisements being researched. One small research and one detailed research.
• Continue the journey for the project SB series, making and brainstorming ideas for the project SB (identifying target audiences)

WEEK 5 MEDIA STUDIES PROGRESS

• Monday-learn sounds, diegetic, non diegetic 
• Friday-learn about storyboards and how to create it, describe the stuff inside each frame

(using mini project that we made a couple weeks ago)

TO DO LIST

1. Finish the project SB ideas and target audience 
2. Design and tidy up my blog so Mr does not have to scroll down.

WEEK 6 MEDIA STUDIES PROGRESS

• Monday:Complete research and create a text analysis on the intro of the 2018 horror/thriller movie, "a quiet place", Attempted a complete analysis of one of the big ideas in a paragraph. Started making a proposal for our own 30 second product advert, made a mini storyboard for our miniproject
• Thursday: Learn about editing techniques
• Friday: Finish proposal, start new storyboard on the advertisement, all clear from Mr Nick.

(Kind of tweaked the ideas a bit as my advert seemed monotone at first, but after some suggestions from Mr Nick, tweaked it into a better idea, got an all clear)

Week 7

• Monday: Video analysis on the avengers movie involving Captain America and his girlfriend at the time- Peggy, complete analysis on a big idea of her being belittled, via camera anglesw/movements, MES, edit and sounds on how to emphasize that peggy and the 40's was facing mysognistic views. Had some difficulties on how to determine the edit and how can the edit translate to the big idea, MES, sound and camera angles are all good for me.
• Wednesday: UNIT TEST, pretty easy, complete analysis of different camera angles already mastered. 2 silly mistakes ruined the 100. Need to be more observant.
• Friday: Finish and evaluate the 1st attempt storyboard, had some difficulties on the ideas of the stroryboard. Mr gave some evaluation and suggested more changes, I decided to erase the first 3 scenes of the school to focus more on the shoes and basketball. Also no more girls in 2023 for adverts. Need to translate more of the camera angles and effects on the board.

Week 8

• Monday: I started my critical self reflection presentation that Mr instructed us to do, it would be due in Monday week 10, still plenty of time, I think it would not really be a hard task as I could describe my challenges and all of the descriptions needed. All 4 questions were understandable. But I still need plenty of guidance from Mr. I also finished my first draft, I think it was pretty good, I am all clear to start the big project.
• Thursday (Absent, sick): My friends told me that we were starting the final storyboard, its a bummer that I couldn't contribute my part for the lesson, all my friends should be ahead of me. I should catch up quickly on my own time.
• Friday: Started my big storyboard project, I think I need to brainstorm more on my shots and have a more defined plan of each shot. It seems like a pretty complicated task as I have limited artistic skills, plus the fact that everyone is ahead of me due to my absence of yesterday (Thursday). In the meantime, I should do this on my own time.
