Here is my weekly progress for my magazine project and also a rough plan
OVERALL TERM 3 REFLECTION
Easily the hardest project I have done in my life, really struggled to make the timing on point due to the point that I have to manage my time alongside the other projects, deadline week was the worst week of my life. 6 mocks and tests, very hard to continue the presentation. I am not looking forward to doing this kind of work ever again.

Week 1
- Monday: I was absent due to family matters, but I have caught up and got the info that the class reviewed the topics and terminologies that we've learnt in Term 1.
- Thursday: We learnt about more media theories, which includes narrarives and Binary Opposites, and the 5 media codes. It was pretty easy to understand personally for me and Im confident that I will do good in this particular theory. Mr Nick explained it very well and kept it simple and real, would definitely be useful in the process of making the magazines
- Friday: We brought our magazines to school and analyzed it, front page, contents and double pages. We learnt about each of the elements being put on the front page. Mr gave us a task to analyze the front page and each of its elements , I did not finisn it, but it seems easy.
Week 2
- Monday: We did a section A type of analysis on the live action series of, "One Peace" , We did it in a group and it was fairly easy to find the main idea of the character we are analyzing named Gold Roger. We also learned about the representation theory by Stuart Hall which may be useful to the magazine that I am going to make.
- Thursday: We also learned about the representation theory by Stuart Hall, it is basically when a thing has no specific image until the media brings it up and puts it to a side that they believe is true. Basically, an object is neutral until the media puts it under the spotlight. At first, this was hard to understand as the part where something is neutral is pretty hard to comprehend, but from Mr Nicks further explanations and examples, I have gained almost full understanding about this particular topic and theory, I am looking forward to the next theories that we will learn.
- Friday: We continued our magazine project, we were given a task to analyze MORE magazines, (4 small analysis, 2 complicated analysis), struggled at first as I don't know on how to actually organize and put it to place, and pretty time consuming.
Week 3
Our teacher have asked us to change the format of our weekly progress, adding problems, solutions and a to do list to make this part of the blog more effeccient and helpful.
- Continued research for our magazines
- Finishing the labeling on the articles
- Took further images from other different magazines
Problems: Even though this magazine project wasn't that complicated, there are lots of things to be done on the research with a crazy amount of analysis making it time consuming.
Solutions: Better time management
To do: FINISH RESEARARCH
Week 4
- Monday: We learned about the genre theory created by Steve Neale, learnt about the typical conventions, simillarities and how to subvert genre. I am going to put this theory into place as this could relate to me trying to conform my magazine project to my target audience.
- Thursday: We learnt on the demographics and psychographics further, I could put this to use on my magazine project as this could help me determine my target audience based on their demographics and psychographics based on my genre of magazine and theme.
- Friday: Final day for statement of intent and magazine research continued development of magazine.
Problems: Lacking statement of intent
Solutions:Fix it at home
To do: More research for my magazine coverlines and cover
Week 5
- Monday: Absent, info pending

- Friday: Did Unit Test, a pretty ok one, but I should focus more on my knowledge and connectivity to media languange

To do: Continue magazine development, finish statement of intent.
Week 7:
This is my last week of media studies before the long break.
Problems: Due to my 4 day spree of sickness, which I did not attend some media classes, I missed the creations of some new blogs that should be completed by Thursday.
Solutions: Finish those unfinished tasks,
To do: Finish specifically the statement of intent and magazine articles first draft
Self reflection:
Component 1 has been on a different level for me, even though by the theories it is pretty easy to follow, what makes it hard is the amount of projects that we have to do and the amount of assignments and deadlines having a significant increase compared to the storyboard project on my first term. A lot of my deadlines and the test itself are due on Friday, which every Friday there is also a large math assignment/test due on that day, making the upholding of time management even harder. Overall it has been challenging, but I managed to pull through. I am looking forward for my semestral exams, this particular part of my blog helped me to keep track of whatever problems and missing assignments that I somehow forgot over the year.
WEEK 1 SEMESTER 2.
This is the weekly progress for semester 2, I have decided to go back to week 1 to mark the new semester.
This is my 1st week of Media Studies after the semester break, This week I received feedback from my teacher about my last project (magazine project). A theory lesson about how media industries work. I have also changed my blog tenplate to Simple in order to match Cambridge guidelines.

Our teacher have also asked us to make a shooting schedule on when we are going to shoot the pictures for our magazine.
Problems:Bad lighting, google draw is bad.
Solution: Find better places with better lighting, use other design applications such as Canva.
TO DO: Finish location scouting and risk assesement
SHOOTING SCHEDULE:
Saturday, 20th of January 2024, 4PM
Sunday, 21st or January 2024
WEEK 3 SEMESTER 2.
This week I was absent on Tuesday, but my friends told me that we dug deeper into media industries, on Monday we also did collaborative notes on media industries. Today (Thursday) we continued our project lesson in making and developing new cover pages, contents and double page spreads. My teacher told us we have 4 full weeks to finish all of this, the deadline really helps as it gives me a lot of time to perfect the development of this magazine.
Problems: I don't really master canva, so I did not know on how to put the borders, I actually put lines instead.
Solution: Ask my teacher on how to do it (he actually helped me)
TO DO: Complete risk assesement and find more location scouting, finish the project.
WEEK 4 SEMESTER 2
In these 2 lessons so far I learned to use the theories and practice questions for the upcoming AS level exams. We also had a project lesson where our teacher explained on how to make the critical self reflection on the project.
In this lesson we focused on innovating our answers for the exams and test that we have next week on Monday. So our teacher instructed us to do a couple of practice questions and instructed us to make our own questions for us to respond to it, in the end, I did planning with my partner regarding the answers.

This is just a week before deadline week, in the first lesson on Monday the whole class had a day all for magazine covers, the second lesson on tuesday the whole class had time for their contents page, and on the last day on Thursday (I was absent for family matters) I heard we had a whole session for the double page spread to be done.
